Things that make my day!

Shell rummel pebble quilt set for surya pbe1001-FQ.jpg

My modern organic Pebble Quilt set was among Surya’s Top 5 Best Sellers in the bedding category from this season’s High Point Market!

As a designer, it is always validating to know that your designs have resonance. I heard from so many High Point Market attendees, Interior Designers and Retail Buyers who saw the quilt set in the Surya Showroom, expressing excitement about our newest bedding design. It has such a quiet yet elegant presence. Soft, neutral color ways enhanced with a unique organic tone on tone stitching that originated as an ink and watercolor design from my art portfolio. No bold colors… no on trend florals,… and yet…it still caught their eye;) I believe its appeal is that the quilt holds its own and looks great as is on a bed, but it also layers in beautifully with other bedding, making it a versatile investment for your bedroom decor.

This is a personal success for me, particularly sweet as my design studio has been very close to bringing this quilt to the marketplace before. Thanks to Surya’s team, I was able to finally bring this vision for textural, tactile, neutral bedding to life in such a beautiful way.

Bring Tranquility to your Bath Decor

Shell Rummel Bacova La Mer Shower curtain.jpg

Our first Bath Collection is still a crowd favorite:) La Mer... perfect for a modern coastal beach house! It was designed to bring a tranquil, soft watercolor wash to bathroom decor and it honors the place that I love most. The collection features a shower curtain and coordinating bath accessories. Available at Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond stores online:)

Soon to grace our design studio... Microbatch Textiles!

I spent the earliest days of my career self producing a variety of product lines. All of my products began with my hand painted watercolor paintings.  From there, artwork was digitized, color palettes were refined, designs tweaked,  production techniques explored and packaging created to delight.  It was so much work,  ensuring that my artistic vision was fully realized every step of the way. And as I write these words, I recall just how much I loved it all...There's something about the process of creation from beginning to end that is deeply satisfying.

In more recent years, I have been licensing my art and designs to manufacturing partners who then use my art to enhance their product lines. The collaborating happens between me, my team and the manufacturer and their art director.  Licensing also has elements that are richly rewarding, especially when our vision comes to life with a quality product, and I am fortunate to have many.

But I've been missing a more hands on approach. So my design team and I have jumped back in and we are about to offer our first collection of self produced, upholstery weight textiles on the most beautiful cotton/linen blend fabric. And, just as I remember, it really is a process;) We are still tweaking to get color perfect, but it's coming along beautifully. We are so excited to soon share the full collection, which features our softly sophisticated, organic designs along with a few other product line surprises.  This collection will be offered to the trade via Interior Design Professionals and Showrooms and we simply can't wait to see what new opportunities may arise.  I'm feeling inspired anew... it's really limitless, where we can take this!  (upholstered furniture, anyone? :)

If you're a Design Professional or an Interior Design Showroom who would like more information about the new collection, (or, if you just plain dig what we're offering:) drop me a line and let me know how you envision us working together.

I'll Be Right Here, II (Too...)

Shell Rummel I'll Be Right Here II

Years ago, I owned a fine art production studio. My team produced and sold literally thousands of Giclee Prints of my work to stores and galleries across the country. The slow dance of color matching each print to my original watercolor paintings...adjusting color and saturation, choosing the right paper,  inspecting prints closely for perfection before adding my inked signature to the page... there's an integrity in the process of ensuring the print was as faithful a reproduction as I could make it. That meant something to me back then. And still does.

My growing brand takes much of my time and energy these days... I do get a bit giddy designing products for a list of spectacular licensees. But so many have written me this year; some who randomly stumbled upon my work on Pinterest, facebook or Instagram... Some who fell in love with my bedding or fabrics... and some friends who have been collectors for years. The common theme of all those emails was asking if I would someday offer for purchase my originals and reproduction prints of my work.

And those who know me well, know I don't like to disappoint... so... a Shop page is being built (so, so close to being up and running) and I will once again dip my toes into production and offer up a small selection of artwork.  You can expect to find a small but well curated assortment of original works that I would love to see hang in a new home... as well as a revolving handful of new fine art prints...mostly limited editions, all hand signed by me. The painting above... well... that's the second in a series.  The first, I'll be Right Here... is my "Most Pinned Pin"on Pinterest (which has apparently inspired and sparked the creative juices of many this year.... another post about that, coming soon;)  and so I will be making this print available on my Shop page, too. I hope you'll check it out once the page goes live and see if any of my art calls your name. I'd be honored for my art to live with you..
